CAPTAIN SUNSHINE’S MATCH REPORT

Greyhounds - 18   CT Grey – 16 It took him a while...But Captain Mike "Mr. Sunshine" Hale found some nice things to say about you all in his version of what happened on Saturday: It was a beautiful day for rugby as two evenly matched teams went back and forth all game long. As the Grey controlled the pace led by James Ackman , Jason Smith , Jeff Vencus for the first ten minutes and the hard work paid off with a nice try for Bill Bishop. Jay slotted the conversion for a 7-0 lead. As the game settled into a scrappy mess the ‘hounds scored to make it 7-5, a few minutes later after a penalty...

JAYZUS…THE TESTOSTERONE WAS FLYIN’ ABOUT DA PLACE ON SATURDAY, IT WAS

The Grey were in Canton, MA on this past Holy Saturday to play the Boston Irish Greyhounds...unfortunately...that was the only holy thing about the day, as the Grey lost the game on a last minute penalty kick. To describe the game as scrappy would do a dis-service to all. The Greyhounds were a tough, hard hitting bunch who know how to fringe in the loose play and cheat well... Something we know how to do ourselves and should be use to. However, we did not react all that well and the result was a rash of punches being thrown, penalties, yellow cards, foul language and referee abuse. Now I'm not opposed...

GREY SHOW UP IN NOLA- VA. CARDINALS QUIT TOURNAMENT!

Well...that was quite a weekend. I guess when the Virginia Cardinals saw they were playing the CT Grey at 10:00AM...They said... "To hell with that, we're staying home to work in the garden!" The Cardinals,  reputedly an excellent select side, didn't make the trip to NOLA so the Grey didn't start their day until the 1:00 slot... The good news was that we started late...the bad news was that we stayed out later and that's not such a good thing in NO...and the worse news...we played 3 games in about 3 1/2 hours... But it was worth it...3 excellent matches against 3 classy sides...and our hosts,...

LAISSEZ LES BONS TEMPS ROULER

That means "Let the good times roll"! The Grey are off to New Orleans this weekend for our first adventure at the French Quarter Masters Rugby Festival...Three games on Saturday against teams that I have no business playing against but will do so anyway... No point in being sensible about things at this juncture in my life. But if you aren't going to NOLA this weekend....Burt Hale advises that a group of guys are going to Amoskeag to play against South Shore...He asked me to tell you that there will be opportunities to play for both teams so if you need a rugby fix this weekend ...Please let Burt...

CT Grey and Mitchell College Rugby

Thank you everyone that helped make Saturday a great day of Rugby.  Thank you to Bubba, Kevin Trammel, Jimmy Burke, JP, Wally, Chris Adams (it was Chris' first time playing in 19 years), and all the other Grey/Old Boys that came down to scrimmage and work with the Mitchell Rugby Club. Jimmy Burke captained one side of mixed Grey/Mitchell and Conor McDonough captained the other side with a mixed Grey/Mitchell Team.  We played 50 minutes of rugby and then Keagans was kind enough to host us afterwards.  We were all excited/blessed to see Cesar Gonzalez and his wife at the Saturday festivities. ...
