GREYNEWS! NOBODY SHOT AT AAB! GOOD TIME HAD BY ALL! JAMMERS THIS WEEKEND! GIVE BLOOD, PLAY RUGBY AT GREY BLOOD DRIVE ON 2/17

The Annual Awards Banquet was a very nice success. No major disasters that I saw or have been made aware of… But It did occur to me that the vast majority of GREY in attendance were forwards. I gather that the backs were unable to join us because the Gay Men’s Choir was in town. Or they couldn’t get their hair done in time. Or something. The awards winners, all well deserved, are:

  • MVP – Forwards – Pantcho (nobody can pronounce his name)
  • MVP – Backs – Bill Bishop (Again)
  • Freight Train Award – Matt Farley (Of course)
  • Captains Award – Brad Waldron (He’s organizing a trip to Australia)
  • Rugger Hugger – Denise McGuire Benson (Be well Kitty!)
  • Youth Rugby Award – Doug Partridge (Great work)
  • Founders Award – Kevin Trammel (A saint for putting up with you people)

CT JAMMERS MATCH MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION AND NEW FORMAT  FEBRUARY 3, 2018

This is a great day to compete, show your kids a very good lesson and to watch Murph and Leone sweat their chops off in a wheelchair. And watch Bud Harvey holler at KMac! Please let El Presidente Andy Ives know if you are coming.
The Gaylord Sports Association would like to invite your team to participate in the inaugural SMASH BOWL Wheelchair Rugby Tournament on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT.   This is the first tournament of its kind for the Jammers and we are excited to invite you!  This event will give able-bodied rugby teams and students a chance to try their hand at wheelchair rugby.  The top team will face off against CT’s only wheelchair rugby team, the Gaylord Jammers!
All able bodied teams will get into wheelchairs and play each other in a single elimination format, with coaching from a Gaylord Jammers player.  The final game will be between the team who wins the elimination rounds and the Gaylord Jammers team.  This tournament can accommodate up to 8 teams.  To start, we are inviting the Connecticut Greys, the Mitchell College Rugby Team, the SCSU Rugby Team, SCSU TR Team and a team from Gaylord Hospital.  The minimum team size is 4 people, however we recommend at least 8 players so that there are two line-ups (there are 4 players on the court at a time).  If your team has more than 10-12 players, and we have space, you may register two teams.  Each game will be 30 minutes in duration.
Donations from teams are accepted and will support the Gaylord Jammers!
Here are a few notes regarding the tournament:
Date of Tournament:  Saturday, February 3, 2018
Time:  Registration will be at 8:30.  First game will begin at 9:30AM
Schedule of tournament to be determined by number of teams confirmed for event.
Address of venue:  Pelz Gymnasium Southern Connecticut State University 537 Fitch St. New Haven, CT
 Pizza Lunch will be provided
